It's an interesting time for Patek Philippe from a collector's standpoint. The company has stopped production of some of its greatest complications (the 3970, 5970, 5070, 5004, etc.), they’ve raised their prices substantially (in what I believe to be an attempt to sideline the secondary market), and a new generation of Stern has taken over as president. I’ve been somewhat skeptical about the direction of the brand based on some of the latest design updates, but after cutting the seal on the new ref. 5396G for Tiffany & Co., I know that the brand still cares about collectors. A lot.In fact, I think this watch is a message to collectors everywhere that Patek Philippe will continue to create instant classics. And this 5396 limited edition is one of them. 2 OF 7 The 5396G is an annual calendar made in a limited edition of 100 pieces to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the opening of the Patek Philippe boutique inside the Fifth Avenue Tiffany &a
this might be a classic questions , but honestly speaking, a lot of people nowadays still thinks that 44 mm ( what about above 44mm? ) is way too big for average person, while others might say that that size is for casual , leisure type of watches,,,, a big No for a serious, dress watch what do you think ? your personal opinion would be highly appreciated many thanks in advance..rgdsPete J
Hi, I'm trying to restore my grandfathers vintage Croton Aquamatic 360el. The watch dates back to the 40's and it has a squarish case. I'm looking for a click spring so the ratcheting works when I wind it up. I lost it taking it apart. I would consider buying a old movement the doesn't work just for that one part, or a an exact replacement movement. I've included a photo for reference. The movement is labeled E3A3 C2224, 17 jewel. If anyone can be of help to me, I'd appreciate it. Cost is an issue and I don't want to invest too much money (less than $20). Other parts I will need are a stem, crystal and gaskets.Mike
