Greetings folks - this Spring, I've spend considerable time (and unfortunately money too....) in tracking down the accessories which would have originally come with my 1970 1680. I had to buy a correct box (inner and the outer "seahorse" box, an anchor, a vintage style chronometer tag, and perhaps the rarest vintage sub accessory of all, the coveted triplock hang tag.
Hi,I got an Air-King (2008) not long ago. After a while I did realize Rolex is THE brand and consequently I am looking forward buying my next Rolex which will be probably the watch I am going to use everyday until I can hand it oven to my son (when I got one )Since AK is a sort of entry-level, I got some questions regarding more advanced Oysters:1. Is it true that the date dial (the small window located @ 3:00) can move in both directions clock-wise and anti clock-wise while winding?2. Why Oysters (excluding the Submariner) have only 100m water-proof protection? It was a big thing back in 1920's, but now I've seen a lot of brads offering >200mts water protection standard.3. Is it true that service is needed every 7 years?4. Once a full service is done, is the watch still considered as a COSC certified?Cheers,Solar_c75
Yesterday, I was fooling around, and entered an antiques shop, and found this babyI got it for $30 , so I decided to restore it...The bracelet is broken, and have no clasp, so will be replaced for a leather strap...The crystal and crystal gastek will be replacedThe case/caseback will be polished/brushed againAnd finally, the movement need to be repaired/cleaned , lucky I got a lot of spares when restoring my blue hummer, so no problem The dial is in pristine condition, all the lettering is intact, the index markers and Omega logos are perfect too, a good clean up will do it...
I received an email from Panerai saying that I unfortunately had missed out on the PAM 360 Special Edition. Considering 2700 people applied and only 300 were made. I think its great work on Panerai's behalf to email the people that missed out. Its a nice touch
