At worn&wound we've long been fascinated by watches that were designed specifically for individual sporting events. This is part of a series on these unique timepieces.Yacht timers ¨C also referred to as regatta timers, yachting chronographs, or sailing watches ¨C are watches specially designed and made for the countdown to the start of a sailing race. As you can imagine, starting a race on water, with entrants powered by the wind, is not as easy as lining up on a grid, Formula 1 style, or lined up like sprinters at a track meet, waiting for the starting gun. As we just saw in the recent America's Cup races in San Francisco, the yachts (we use the term loosely in the case of the America's Cup boats) are already at speed as they approach the starting line. The trick for the skipper is to NOT cross the starting line before the starting gun goes off. Remember last year when Rafael Nadal made news with his half-million dollar Richard Mille watch? They're at it again.Over the weekend any viewers of The Masters Golf Tournament got some good looks at Bubba Watson's watch (he made it to a playoff, but ultimately lost). Like Nadal, Watson has RM as one of his sponsors, and received the watch just last month. And like Nadal, this tourbillon movement was made specifically with Bubba in mind.It is designated the RM038 as only 38 pieces will be made, obviously with Bubba's being 1 / 38.It measures 48mmX40mm (w/o the crown), is made of an aluminum-magnesium alloy called AZ91, and has a rubbber strap colored to match the silver-gray of the case. The other 37 should be available soon so hurry and put your orders in ASAP. They're a mere $525,000.00

ROC Panda
Own a ROC Panda and love it but after a while have come to realize I prefer darker dials to white based. At the same time I think the Panda is a classic dial and it's been discontinued. 39mm ROCs with blue and orange dials, blue dial 15300/15400 and all the ROO Divers are all appealing to me. Would you guys switch? What do you think about the ROC Panda vs. those? Others to consider?Thanks
