IWC 2050 wrist watches news:
I was at the store today and saw a big bank of watches for $14 and $19 bucks. And I saw a big kiosk of Timex and Casio watches for 20-30 bucks. All quartz, of course. Some had leather bands and some had metal bracelets. But they all looked very chintzy to me. I tried to understand what it is exactly that looks cheap. Why is it some watches look expensive and some cheap?I thought about a non-HOG and how they see things. Does a non WIS or non HOG see the difference even if they are unfamiliar with our brands? And, if they CAN tell a difference up close, can they tell from a distance - say 10 or 15 feet?CAN A GOOD HOG (HOROLOGICALLY OBSESSED GUY) EVEN TELL EXPENSIVE FROM CHEAP AT TEN FEET?Does a Nomos or Mondaine or Sowa look like Timex to most folks? I bought these two 'Great Northwest' watches today because I liked the leather wrist bands and thought I could put them to good use. These watches were $14 a piece. Not bad!!! I think they actually look pretty good. But I'm a phi
Has anyone every bought a Dakota watch? I looked at one today, not very expensive, good warranty and first battery change is free.
Hi just curious how the WR holds up for current owners. Do you swim with your 15400? Or would you ever? I am a little surprised that it is only 50m with a screw down crown. Many other brands provide for 200m with a screw down crown and sapphire case back. I hope to see this watch in my future and while I do not plan to go diving with it I would like to know it could withstand a gentle dip in a pool? Many thanks for your comments.
Couldn't resist a snap shot while drunking with a buddy last night...The original (B-Series, 1972 or 73) and the 2012 Royal Oak Jumbos
I had heard there was some concerns about the reliability of the 1151 movement, as used in the Speedmaster Triple Dates. I love the look of the watch and the value seems good (used ones going for approx. $1,500 on ebay).Any one with ownership experience with this movement please let me know if you have experienced any issues with your watch. Also much appreciated if anyone can point me to a spot on the net where I could do further research on the Omega Triple Dates. Many thanks.
