Silicon for the win! The material that has had watch brands debating and experimenting is here to stay and Patek Philippe is making sure of that. News from the big guys in Switzerland says that they intend for all Patek Philippe watches in the future to have Silinvar (their type of silicon) parts. A new limited edition watch called the ref. 5550P uses the brand's newest Silinvar component called the GyromaxSi balance wheel. This balance wheel has a new shape that looks less like a wheel and more like an hour glass with inlaid gold added for weight. The ref. 5550P encapsulates the brand's total efforts in Silinvar research to date and has three areas of the movement done in Silinvar. OK everyone.. I need your help...So my wife starts talking tonight out of the blue - she wants to look at the Date-justs again this weekend. She thinks she really wants one :eek:She can't really decide which one though. And good pictures of them are hard to find. So, here's what I need your help onCan you please post any pictures you have of two-toned Date-justs. Preferably the ladies models, but beggar's can't be choosy here so either would be great She was originally leaning to the rose gold two tone with the black jubilee dial on a jubilee bracelet. But, we started thinking - if she wears it 'dressed up' all her other jewelery is yellow gold. I don't think it would match (any of your wifes have rose gold watches & yellow gold rings, bracelets & necklaces? If so, how's that look?). So now she's leaning to the yellow gold & steel with a silver or champagne jubilee dial, still on jubilee bracelet.Please, post your pictures!! We plan to make a decision for her befor

sawtooth auto's and quartz ?
I've been looking around at seiko's for awhile now, trying to learn a little about them before purchasing one.(most likely an OM/SS). I was looking at the sawtooth's and I noticed the orange one "SHC059P1" is listed as an auto on one site and quartz on another.Typo? Same CAT. # and about $100 cheaper respectively. I haven't seen any posts here on any of these models,"blue, orange etc.." I did see a blue quartz w/ a wave pattern dial similar to an Omega or Oris, really nice.What's the story on these?Any plastic? They look pretty cool. If they are available in auto, do they make the blue auto? Just looking for guidance from the seiko community on choices from the many models to choose from. Thanks. PS I do want an auto mvmnt.

Well, I got it today, after many time of worries and cold sweating My Limited Edition Accutron Astronaut is here...The outer box, very nice...The inner box, a lovely and beautiful black laquered wood box (at least it seems to be wood )Box opening, and the treasure insidethe genuine NASA pin, was part of the package...The authenticity certificate, signed by Buzz Aldrin, watch is number 0760 of 1000The new kid on the block, the design resembles the one from the 60's, with the bullet style bracelet too, and it's beautiful to see at the dark with the lume "on", unfortunately I couldn't figure how to take a lume shot The case back, with the signature of Buzz Aldrin, and a partial opened case, I love the rotor with the Accutron logoAnd finally, a close up of the domed sapphire crystal, it's awesomeAs with all my watches, I'm really enjoying this pal...
