Michele W06A000522 wrist watches news:
A quick preface:A little over a year ago I purchased my first mechanical watch. After extensive research, I decided on a frugal Seiko 5 (SNK795K1) with the 7S26 movement. It was understated enough to be worn with any attire, but looked sharp with a suit. And at $55, it fit nicely into my graduate student budget.Wow, I must say. After wearing it mountain biking, skiing, and to numerous interviews, Seiko far exceeded my expectations for quality and finish. The movement quickly settled to +10 seconds per day or so, and hasn't budged since.Presently:My financial situation has improved a bit, and I'm looking to take the plunge once more. I've been researching watches in the $150-350 range, but have found it to be rather devoid of any really enticing deals. The Invicta 9937 was alluring with the ETA movement, hacking, manual wind, and sapphire crystal. Invicta's less-than-perfect quality control not withstanding. However, the new SW200 movement Invicta has bastardized it with seems to have mo
Dear AllI would be most grateful if you could call upon some of your expert advice. It was about 4 years ago and I was scanning the internet, probably looking for some more information on vintage Omega Speedmasters and I came across the brilliant article from Les Zeitling on his 1967 Breitling Navitimer. I had never seen one before, in fact I don¡¯t think I knew anything about Breitling before this. After reading it I instantly wanted one - they look so right to me. I was hooked and spent hours scanning the net for one in my price bracket. It¡¯s taken all this time since then and finally, last weekend I managed to get hold of one. It popped up on one of the UKs bigger internet watch retailers and after a little trading it was mine. I know it is far from mint and this was reflected in the price I paid for it. Here are some facts:1. As part of the purchase the watch has been serviced and it hums beautifully.2. Its has been supplied on a new Breitling strap and buckle3. The crystal has a crac
HelloIt's been a long time since I've visited this forum. Many of the regulars have changed. I am getting back into watch collecting and I mainly collect vintage Hamilton and Elgin solid gold watches. While looking at the big auction site recently, I saw a listing for a Howard wrist watch. It looks like a Hamilton watch, and even the movement looks like a Hamilton, but the markings on the dial and movement are different. What's a Howard? I see lots of pocket watches by Howard, bit no wristies. Can anyone tell me the story on this watch? Thanks, Jim.
Does Omega keep its value like Rolex, Vacheron, AP do? I have heard and read many articles stating that they do, but I wanted to know what the experts in TRF have to say about it.
Hi all,Was hoping to get some opinions on this.I've been in the market for one of the hotter sport watches little over a month now. I called one a local AD who happened to have one that wasn't spoken for yet. I agreed over the phone that I would come in tomorrow to purchase the watch. However, I later asked if the watch could be shipped out of state and got an immediate no.Is it no longer allowed for AD's to send watches out of state, even when the purchase was done in store?Or is this associate telling me no because he think's he's doing me a favor by selling me this watch? (which I guess you can argue that he is doing me a favor)
