Most silver dials are brass plates that are stamped or engraved with a pattern and then painted or silver plated . The dial on this Nivrel is a disc of solid sterling silver so the pattern and color is very sharp, bright and intense.

Antique Waltham & unusual little Elgin pocket watches
Trying to find out more info on these. I didn't buy them, and I'm hopeing that my friend didn't pay too much for them.First up is a Waltham. The dial is nice except for one little crack in it. No crystal though.The movement is very pretty! But I don't know if it runs. The crown spins freely without moving any gears, like it's disconnected.Sorry about the bad pictures, not using my usual setupNext is the Elgin. I honestly haven't seen a case like this one. It's kinda thin. Someone mentioned it could be an opera watch?It does work, filthy though. It can run for a while but probably desperately needs to be cleaned.Side by sideAny info you guys can give me is appreciated!

japanees 21 jewel?
Anyone know which movements the Croton Dive watches sold as " JApanees 21 Jewels movements" are?I am looking at a few larger 47 mm dial crotonsinteresting and very inexpensive, under 100$.. I know technically they are not japanees butthet movemnetns are.. sorry if post is missplaced..Thanks for any info...I have have gr8 luck with Myiota monements for automatic accuracy..
