So, today I'm driving along

A Close Look at the Elgin 19 Jewel (0s) & 17 Jewel (3/0s) Without Dials & Cases !
I happen to have the cases and dials off of an Elgin 17 jewel, 3/0s and an Elgin 19 jewel, 0s at the same time so I thought that I would take some pictures and share with you guys. I'm pretty sure that most of you have not seen these very rare movements in this state, if at all. Elgin did a very nice job on the 15 jewel 3/0s and 0s when it comes to damaskeen, especially in 1916. But these two high grade movements blow the 15 jewel out of the water when it comes to stunning beauty and overall quality. I'll start with the Elgin 3/0s from 1915 that has 17 jewels. Serial number 18628019, grade 423, 3/0s, HC, 17 jewels, adjusted, number 19 of 1000. Under the dial on the majority of Elgins the plate is unfinished and is just flat nickel, rather boring and nothing much to look at. As you can clearly see they put some time in on this one, anything below 17 jewels does not have this detail.Now for the bottom, Elgin only did these vertical lines on the 3/0s in 17 jewels (and possibly on the 19 j

Inside or out?
I was standing in line today at the grocery store and noticed the gentleman in front of me was wearing a Rolex. I couldn��t see the dial though because he was wearing the face on the inside of his wrists. I could only see the Rolex logo on the back of the band. It made me wonder. How many here where the face of their watches on the inside of their wrist?
