- I was looking for a watch that was tactical, durable, and accurate. Between the other one and this watch, i would have to say that this watch is better. Same features, except you never have to buy/change batteries.

Thinking about my first Omega.Any thoughts on this? Previously owned, no paperwork or warranty.Light scratches to SS from wear. Sapphire is clean and un marked.Does it look genuine?
1. Apparently the official watch of Mad Men is JLC.2. Wouldn't Omega and/or Longines have been a more historically accurate choice for the watches worn by upper middle class Americans in the '60s?3. Throughout the 60s, my father- an NYC municipal bond lawyer, and his brother- an NYC surgeon, who the same approximate age as Draper (late 30s and early 40s) both wore Omegas, as did many of their friends.4. What are your thoughts?5. Thanks.
I see a lot of sellers posting that their Omega Planet Oceans have the 2500D movement and not the dreaded 2500C movement. I know that the 2500C is accurate because I was able to tell that from searching around here. My question is about durability. Is it just a vocal ~.05% failure rate or is it more like 10% failure rate on the 2500C movement? How much would it cost to fix a failed 2500C assuming the warranty expired? Thanks!
Many thanks to those who offered their thoughts and advice as I contemplated this purchase. I find this watch to be absolutely stunning. I always hoped for a blue dial, platinum 5170. Patek delivered at the 2017 Basel, but with a little curve ball. The dial (blue to black from inside out) is one like I¡¯ve never seen. And the diamonds are not normally my cup of tea, but they truly are subtle and make the watch both dressy and fun. Here are a few initial pics, more to follow. *The plastic will be removed once I get home.
