I was wondering if anyone can explain the different model swiss movements. Also, I am under the impression that there are many watches and watch brands that use the same exact swiss movements. (which is the most common?) If there are links for the internet for explainations or information on the different swiss movements, that would also be a bid help. I have quickly become very interested in this (and watches in general) but unfortunately I don't have the time to really do some quality research. Thanks in advance for all of your help.

Do you really care about brand history?For the most part, I certainly don't.Sure, it's nice to know the company that built your watch has existed for 200 years. It's even nice to look at old timepieces and see the brand's progression.But do I really care, say, that Rolex developed the first waterproof case? Will it make me buy a Rolex? Probably - almost certainly - not. Though I do appreciate the Oyster case.Truth is, I want to know what Rolex and other brands have done for me lately.That's more important than pedigree. At least to me.So brand history - while fun and fascinating - doesn't sell me. It's essentially meaningless.The only exception is the trumped up histories, which really tick me off. I find it offensive when a company revives a brand name - after 20 or 30 years or more - and then tries to claim: We're back! Better than ever. Hello folksWriting in from India. I have the big 40th coming up and I've been looking at something special to mark the occasion. I have the opportunity of purchasing a new Royal Oak ref 15400 ST from an AD in India and was wondering if a white dial would be more versatile than the grey/ black dial one? The AD has the watch wrapped in cling film so it's hard for me to appreciate the true beauty of the White dial. Is the white suitable for both casual and formal occasions as opposed to the grey/ black?I'm getting a 20% discount from the AD in Delhi, which brings the price of the Royal Oak to about US$ 15,500. Is that a good deal?How does the AP hold up to daily wear. I believe it's quite a scratch magnet and while most of my time is spent at the desk, I'm worried about picking up scuffs on the bracelet. Is it really as bad as it's made out to be?A 38.5 mm Lange & Sohne Saxonia in yellow gold is also available at the same price (there's a 30% discount on it) and that's the other watch

Datejust2 116300 on strap???
Hi everyone, looking at getting a white dial sports daily wear. I have explorer 2 black dial already or else I'd get the polar. I'm looking at datejust41, does anyone use it as a daily wear on a strap or is that just in bad taste?I've looked online and seems to be hardly any pictures of datejust41 on anything but a bracelet, there's a few on nice alligator straps and it looks amazing but obviously that's for dress..Any input or suggestions would be awesome!Thanks
