Hi,I wonder what exactly makes them so special?, as compared to other good brands like "Citizen". Thanks!
Lets say you have $2,000 to spend on a watch or twoor 3 or 4.What would you get?a Meadowbrook, Piping Rock, Meteor, a couple Pacers, or several watches on the swamp to fix up?What would you pick?
Hey guys!I bought this 1901 Transition Waltham on ebay about a week ago and it arrived early this morning (whoohoo, the mailman came early today!)I was sort of stumped when it came to the case material of this Illinois Watch Case Company "Arrow", the "Arrow" name was not in my list of names for IWCC cases. I thought that it would be 10k gold filled possibly but it turns out that it is just a gold colored base metal of some sort, it does NOT appear to be gold chrome plated so I am still kind of stumped on that front. I've seen quite a few new faces, so it's time to put together a little pocket guide of tips and tricks to make your collecting experience a bit smoother for you. The first tip I can give you is run away!!! Run fast, run far, and keep running! Abandon all hope ye who enter here! Forget watches - you can use your cell phone to tell the time! Your wallet will thank you for it. Okay, if that didn't scare you off then keep reading.....but be prepared to spend 5X more on this habit/hobby than you think you want to. In for a penny, in for a pound (more like thousands of pounds ).The second tip is about buying and selling. Think you got a great deal on that Omlexing two-tone Super-duper Revenger SUX 5000 chronopetual GMT? Just wait 'til you try to sell it! You'll find that the term "flipping" should have the word "out" permanently attached to it. The best way to make a small fortune buying and selling watches is to start with a large one. The third tip is to start saving now
