How to Tell ETA Levels
I found this from EL's bossman at another site. Very informative:There is indeed a visual way to tell a basic movement apart from one of a higher level. It is usually the decoration. 2824s that come in the ¨¦labor¨¦, Top and Chronom¨¨tre versions have routinely factory decorated rotors and bridges. There are many different levels of decorations from the ETA-factory in what we call 'd¨¦corations traditionnels'. These three executions come all with a nickled and rhodium plated rotor and a goldplated balance wheel as base. The Standard version lacking these features.High level watch companies usually use at least the ¨¦labor¨¦ version most of them reverting to the Top execution. The high-enders usually bring in their own decorations. Much like we do on our Claro-SEMAG movement.Marketing oriented brands focus on the entry level executions of the 2824. Most often for price reasons. However, even a Standard execution movement can be brought up to ¨¦labor¨¦ or Top level by changing the required compo

And yet another first time Omega owner
I've been collecting Rolex for quite a few years now, both new and vintage, then also bought new Tudor but for some reason Omega never really sang to me.I started to look for a new Rolex but with the near impossibility of buying a SS Sports watch from a UK AD, I was looking at an AD's near empty Rolex window, when I saw the Omega display next to it. As soon as I saw the Planet Ocean I was blown away.As has been commented on by other first time owners, the box is better than Rolex and the quality and finish of the watch is incredible. It is great to have a watch with a completely different set of styling features, including thick polished bevels on the sides, a ceramic dial, lume in blue and green, a movement that can be seen through the case back and with METAS certification which is +0.5 secs per day.It's now got me looking at older models and a Speedy Reduced may well be next in a few months.It's great to post as a proud owner in The Omega section of the forum
