Having perused the TRF and their variety of everyday topics, I've found this forum to be far more practical and insightful in terms of Rolex ownership.There's no 'keeping up with the Jones', OCD issues and/or 'show-off' mentalities running rampant. Very refreshing in a world where status-symbolism often reigns supreme amongst contemporary, new-moneyed mind-sets.Though the WTF traffic may be considerably less than the TRF, the responses here are always straightforward and to the point. One can appreciate that.Once upon a time, Rolexes had sort of an esoteric following. Nowadays they seem to fall into the same mundane category as BMWs, Nikon cameras and Martin guitars, items once respected for what they were but now relegated to upwardly-mobile consumerism and braggadocio.Perhaps this is the curse of anything well-made and expensive. Eventually they become mainstream and potentially tacky (especially to the old-timers who simply appreciated them per se).

Anybody Going to the NAWCC National in Kansas City?
I was wondering if anybody is going to the NAWCC National "Meet in the Middle" in Kansas City one month from tomorrow? I decided today that I am going for sure! I just re-read the info about the show and with the 900 tables I hope to bring back some treasures to restore and pick up some tools. Maybe meet up with a few WTF members as well! I'll probably only be there for the 9th and 10th. I bought that car to take some road trips and June is a fine month to drive 500 miles each way with the convertible top down ! ! ! ! ! So who is in ? ? ? ? ?

Seiko Marinemaster 300 Arrives! With Pics
First impressions of the MM300 are very promising indeed. It's quite similar to my old Sea Dweller but with probably nicer, more refined case lines. The bezel functions better, too: stiff but not quite as stiff as the SD and much easier to grab and turn; smoother feel to it, too. The dial and hands are easily as good as any Rolex sports model I've owned (2 SD's, several Subs and a GMT Master II). I like the frame around the date window, very Omega SM-like and I quite like the position of the crown, though they should have signed it, IMO.The bracelet, quality and functionality-wise kicks the butt of any Sub/SD. The clasp is a real dive clasp and so it should be. The bracelet is heavier and more solid than the SD's, too. I've never been a fan of the polished bits between the links and I still think this watch would be aesthetically more pleasing with the more standard link bracelet but I'm getting use to it. It wears a little wider than its' 20mm, feeling more like a 22mm, IMO. Everythin
