Brietling Super Ocean Steel Fish in smaller size?
I have recently seen a Super Ocean steel Fish (New style) in an AD.I really liked it and the off white/yellowed dial is gorgeous!!!What really set it apart from most other Brietling's I've seen is the fully brushed/satin finish rather than the highly polished finish found on most Super O's.The only thing that prohibits it as a watch for me (and my 1st Brietling) is the sheer bloody size of the thing 8-)It's gotta be a least 45mm which for me and my slim wrists is a big No No!I tried it on and practically "willed" it to look right!However as much as I wanted it to, it just didn't, even the shop assistant agreed that it was too big and thick for me.I currently wear a Rolex Sea Dweller, which I am trying to sell in order to "revise" my watch priorities to a JLC RDM dress watch and another diver of lesser value as an everyday wearer.The Super O Steel Fish fit's the bill perfectly apart from the (IMHO) over the top dimensions.Is this model available in a smaller (42mm max) size.In other wor

On second look there is something in this average looking Martin [link deleted - Dave.] that might make it worth $125. Someone slipped in a running 979. I'm not familiar with 979 movements but know from hanging around here that they are relatively uncommon. Is this worth the bid just to get the movement? Joel

So the Memovox is under the knife now. I have the dial to try a little clean-up, and the rest is getting the spa treatment. Thought I'd share some pics, and a nice turn of luck at the end of this post.Some dial close-ups:Worst case scenario is that it goes back to Le Sentier so they can work their magic on it. The caseback is in good shape, and this is an uncommon model - stainless back with a solid 14K case.Of course, if you have the caseback off you have to have a movement shot, right?Wait a sec, what is that serial number?Hmmm, a little closer look is needed.....Yep, that's what I was hoping for! Any JLC with a serial number from 1,770,000 to 1,850,000 was made in 1966 - another birth year watch!!! The best part is it wasn't planned, it just happened to be from that year (hence the title of this thread).
