Zenith Captain Chronograph 03.2110.400--some photos
By way of introducing myself to this forum, I will post some pictures of my new Captain Chronograph, which is actually a 2010 model that I bought from an AD that was losing its dealership with Zenith. I have been posting for the last few months on WUS, but noticed that some of the most useful posts in the archives were from banned members. Trying to find out why they were banned led me here. So, I thought I'd introduce myself before I get banned from WUS, just to save time when that event comes to pass. I posted these pictures there as well, but there are some Zenith aficionados here who might like to see them. The Captain is an homage to the Captain line offered by Zenith starting right about the time they bought the Martel Watch Company. The Captain was a line of automatic dress watches intended for less sporty occasions than other Zeniths of that era. New Purchase Planet Ocean
Just bought my first Omega - was torn between 2 but went for the Planet Ocean in the end - smaller size (41mm I think!) after much deliberation. Very pleased with her! I have a question regarding the Helium Value - does this always have to be screwed tight? If not 100% tight will it let in water? I was told the Rolex Sub is Water Resistent to 50 metres with the crown virtually pulled out! and 300 metres with it screwed tight.I didnt know whether Omega had the same type of sealing system, on Rolex its the triple lock I think its called.The workmanship on the Planet Ocean watch is fantastic, I have always previously owned Rolexes and found them to be excellent but when I look on various forums the Omegas and the Rolexes are 'marked' very closely - as though the quality is very close, yet the price of similar purpose Rolexes is almost twice as much as Omega prices, comparisons such as e.g Seamaster v Submariner or Planet Ocean v Sea Dweller.Are Omegas similar quality/workmanship yet 1/2 t

Broke the glass of my PAM219
It had to happen one day! While I was putting on the watch, I accidently dropped it from about chest height. It fell face down on the tiles in the kitchen. The crown guard got dented and there is a crack on the glass at 6 o'clock.Went to Panerai 5 hours later and brought it in for glass replacement. Verdict = 200 USD. I specifically asked not go repair anything else, nor polish it. I like it when my watch looks rugged but I can't stand the glass being broken.I did however asked them to check if everything is alright with the movement. It kept time between dropping it and bringing it in, so I suspect no harm was done on the movement. They will do that free of charge.
