On October 20, MythBuster Tory Belleci faced his fear of flying during a harrowing aerobatic exercise at the Tutima Academy of Aviation Safety, a premier precision flight training school operated by legendary stunt pilot Sean D. Tucker in partnership with Tutima. The show’s theme was fear, and to test his limits, Belleci flew with Sean as he used his small plane to bend the laws of physics. From January 17-22, concurrent with SIHH, 29 independent watch brands and craftsmen will display their latest collections at the first Geneva Time Exhibition (GTE). The GTE is an effort by smaller, independent watch brands to pool their resources to battle the global economic crisis and to present their products together in an atmosphere designed for firms that are not members of the major groups. The first edition of GTE runs from Sunday, January 17 (opening 2 p.m.) through Friday, January 22. GTE will be held in the heart of Geneva at the International Geneva Conference Center (CICG), close to Place des Nations. I'm wondering why many vintage watches costs a lot of money. Is it just because collectors want it or is it because those kind of watches were of limited supply? I particularly liked the swiss ladies watches and was looking on ebay to get the price range for brands like Oris or Omega. I found this listing which is an ELOGA Swiss Watch thats valued at $2mil. According to the listing its been in a private collection for more than 40 years and is up for sale now. I'm guessing that its at that price because its a rare item or its because its made from solid gold and has diamonds on it? I'm wondering about the price difference between the different models of swiss watch brand.I've added the link to the item. Please have a look and I would appreciate your feedback. Here is the listing :
Hey guys I am truly in love with the Charcoal dial version of this watch. I do have a couple questions however? I know Pateks hold their value better than most but I am sure that different models vary. I wouldn't want to drop all that cash on a model that may not hold better than others. In terms of collect-ability I am guessing this model will be too common in terms of appreciation. I have never sold a watch from my collection but I guess its more a piece of mind thing to know the perceived depreciation to expect. Is their a better complicated Nautilus to consider for the money? What type of % off of retail can I expect for BNIB? I have seen them in the 20% off range in the for sale section? Please correct me if i am wrong. Thank you for your answers, I know there are some Patek super collectors on this forum who's opinion and taste I greatly appreciate. Before I considered this watch I had a plan of 2-3 watches with this money but I think most would agree to just go for the kill and
I have a deep love for Daytonas and one of my all time favorite Daytona is the white dial Panda Daytona with Rolex's 4030 movement. Unfortunately finding this model in a mint condition is close to impossible. So I decided to go a different route.I bought an excellent condition Rolex 16523 with box and paper, spent decent chunk of change and bought brand new Rolex 16520 conversion parts. Here is the end result. All parts were bought brand spanking new***Decided to throw in something extra Now the beautiful 4030 movement can be seen in its full glory.Thought Id share the results with you all.
