Service & Store or Just Store? - Omega Dynamic Chrono
Hey Folks,I've been organizing my safe and came across my first nice watch ever, given to me as a gift from my parents almost 20 years ago. This discontinued Omega Dynamic Chronograph has never been serviced and is definitely not functioning correctly.For starters, the timing is all over the place and chronograph will not reset properly.I stopped in the Omega Boutique a couple years ago and they told me it would be about $800 for the full service if I remember correctly. That seemed ludicrous to me, to invest that much money in a watch that's probably only worth a few hundred dollars more.So here's the thing, I never wear this watch. It's been in a safe one way or another for the past 10+ years. I of course care about it, and perhaps would wear it once and a while if it was functioning correctly. But for the most part this watch is stored in the safe 24/7.Here's my questions for you folks:Should I simply put the watch back in the safe since it's not really worn or should I service

Make a luxury watch where the strap has to be cut without any instructions?????????????????I took the watch to a local watchmaker who told me he knew what to do.I don't know how despite all my care and attention this could have happened.Suffice to say, the strap was cut by the watchmaker way too short, and I don't know when a new strap will be available, when I will get it back.This is just a total disaster.Apart from that there were spring bar marks on the underside of the lug that looked like they came from the factory.And what's more the movement doesn't hack. What else could go wrong!!!Have a good weekend.

112 on JV
Psyched to finally be JV'd! The last OEM strap I purchased was a dark brown Riva at the Florence boutique during my honeymoon in 2011. While there, the Panerai rep showed me both the gold and dark grey JV options and while I thought the nubuck alligator was cool, I liked the look of the Riva strap better. Once I returned home and started researching the JV, I was sold on the killer patina photos of the straps after some wrist time. I recently found a gentleman selling an unworn/unmounted JV in the right (standard) size and it was delivered today. I love it. It is a bit more of a muted gold color in person than I expected - despite my photos making it look like every other JV strap I've seen on the Internet - but it was almost immediately comfortable on my wrist and after a lot of aftermarket purchases it's great to have another killer OEM strap for the 112. It's also nice to have a lighter colored, dressier option to break up all the darker leather ammo straps I've been buying lately,

My take on how Rolex fixed their "grey market" problem
For a long while now I've read countless threads on this forum about how Rolex wanted to curb grey market watch buying. In my opinion the underlying issue for Rolex and Rolex AD's was that people would window shop their AD and then go to a good old trusted seller and get the watch for less than MSRP and brag about it on this forum. I'd seen lots of responses a year ago and back where a lot of forum members would encourage going to an AD to see a watch in the flesh then say order it from X trusted seller here. This in my opinion was the real issue rolex has with the grey market in general, it diminished their brand by allowing it to sell at a discount... think of the grey seller as an outlet store of sorts. In a Pickle: Is a Tudor BB Necessary?
Hey guys, in a bit of a pickle right now and was hoping you guys could assist me with my conundrum.For some reason, I have been slowly gravitating towards a Tudor BB. The problem is, I already have a sub no date.This is a two part (maybe three) question.1. Is the BB a good compliment to the sub or is it too similar that i should just find another piece instead2. I found a good priced in house (not interested in the ETA variant) Tudor BB with the black bezel and faux aged lume BNIB but.... you remember when I said I was gravitating towards a Tudor BB? Well the model I've been lusting after is actually the one with the blue bezel and leather strap. I can't seem to find this one for a good price though. Should I suck it up and buy the pretty well priced brand new Black Bay w/ Black Bezel or is that just WAY too similar to the sub?3.
