Welcome back to an watches-dealer original series, where we discuss important stores that sell watches all over the world. Each store we profile has an interesting story to tell about where they operate and who they sell to. Whether you buy watches from brick and mortar retailers or prefer to buy watches online, these are the stores that help shape our watch culture around the globe. There is a long list of stores to cover, but if there is a retail location in your favorite city that we simply can¡¯t miss, let us know in the comments below.Where to buy watches in Los Angeles, California?Serving customers for over a century, Feldmar Watch Company, Inc.? operates their landmark store in Los Angeles and also a boutique in the Beverly Hilton Hotel. In 1913, Hungarian immigrant Jack Feldmar started a repair business fixing the broken, relinquished watches of Newark, New Jersey pawnshops. He repaired neglected timepieces for 15¡é apiece. When Jack¡¯s wife became ill, the family relocated to Los
It's always very exciting when a brand surprises you. Whether through the quality of a piece that belies its price or the thoughtfulness of a design, it's reassuring when a brand seems to surpass what you expect. Gavox's newest releases, the Legacy Navy line, are an example of a brand doing something quite unexpected that made me adjust what I think about them. The Gavox watches we reviewed last January were pretty straight forward quartz pilot's watches. They had a few unique twists, but ultimately used the vocabulary of modern pilot's that we are very familiar with. As is typically the case, when a brand's first watch is of a certain type, the proceeding watches are an evolution on that idea. But, with their newest watches, Gavox has taken an entirely different direction. The Legacy marine watches have a classically inspired design that is elegant and refined, with dials that have very interesting asymmetry and texture.Loosely based on marine chronometers and the classic aesthetics of
How many sides does a sphere have? Luckily for OMEGA's marketing department, the answer is: an infinite number. After visits to the Dark, the Grey, and the White Side of the moon, the Swiss giant invites us to discover one we didn't even know existed: the Meteorite side.Modeled after other Speedmaster Co-Axial chronographs, the new GSOTM is the latest two-register, with small seconds at 9 o'clock, a 60-minute and 12-hour recorder at 3 o'clock, and a date window at 6 o'clock. Again, it is presented in a brushed and polished case measuring 44.25 mm across and 16.14 mm tall. But the watch looks a whole lot different from its predecessor. 1 OF 3 A follow up to the Grey Side Of The Moon, the "Meteorite" borrows only the original's grey ceramic case, ditching the sand-blasted platinum dial meant to romantically mirror the Moon's surface, for one that actually orbited our planet before crash landing into it.Meteorite dials seem to divide opinion. They are the marmite of the watc
Hello everyone I'm looking to buy my first AP (Royal oak SS 41mm 15400) here at the AD in Hawaii. I've always loved this watch, but wasn't planning to purchase it on my trip. I happened to come across the AP store at the T Galleria, and they offered me 10% off, and since it's duty and tax free I thought this might be a good deal. I'm from Canada where we typically have 13% tax as well. I cannot find the MSRP pricing on this in canada, and I'm also looking for advice on whether 10% off is good or not. Thanks all!!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I recently purchased a Submariner and now have some questions. I am only going to wear this watch on the weekends and potentially some days to the office (when the boss is not there ) . Should I wind the watch and set it weekly, when I wear it? I don't want to cause damage to the crown and tube threads. Will it be better to get a winder and have it on the winder for when I wear it a few times a week, but not every day?
