Analogies for automatic vs quartz
This happened to pop into my head as I was trying to fall asleep last night. Since most people don't seem to understand the appeal of automatic watches have you ever tried using an analogy to describe why you like them? If so, what analogy did you use and did it help them to better understand? Obviously it would have to be something that appeals to the person's senses because the example I'm about to give wouldn't help my mom understand at all, but to anyone into high performance cars it would.Here's mineAn automatic vs manual transmission is an obvious example but I will go a different direction since many car enthusiasts have reasons to own automatics. Let's say Ferrari came out with an electric motor option on one of its models. The car performed equally well if not slightly better, got 400 miles between recharges, required very little maintenance, and was cheaper. Tool Watch Adventures
So, today I took my watch out of its comfort zone and it really earned its tool name. I was working out in a shady area out of convenience, not doing that again, and I just didn't want to leave the watch in my car or locker. I've seen other people workout in their Rolex and I wanted to try it out myself. What held me back wasn't really damaging it but being showy and coming off as obnoxious. Ended up getting a flat after the workout and had to replace the tire. Watch never came off. As nerdy as it sounds, I felt I made an extra connection with the watch today. On a side note, I hope the pic I'm posting debunks the idea that wrist size is everything. Apparently, my watch would just be too big for my wrist and I would come off as a clown by wearing one. I have a 6.5 inch wrist (albeit very flat). I'll let you decide if it's too big. I'm about 6 feet tall and fairly muscular. It's all perspective. Almost the last word on drivers...
In reverse order (from left to right) of best to worst, please find the screwdrivers I have used on Oyster and Jubilee bracelets of 36 to 40mm Rolex watches. The best is no doubt the Rolex 2100, the worst the Bergeon 1.6mm. A close second in bad is the 1.6mm Horotec. The second from the left is a fine screwdriver although the blade is ever slightly thinner than the one on the 2100. Please note that some of the drivers are marked as 1.6mm and others 1.8mm, some are concave, others flat. I hope this helps.
