Yesterday, I attended a very nice family wedding, which of course is not typically news for the blog, but this time there are a minor detail that sparked a worthwhile mention. The groom, who I had met for the first time on the day of the wedding, instantly impressed me, making me feel extra good about his entrance into the extended family. The reason for my quick fondness was the fact that he was wearing a rare watch that I owned as well. Of course, I could not dismiss his impeccable demeanor which might have also had something to do with my approval.Surely you are each aware of my rich capacity to continually discuss the German Marcello C. brand of watches. Having a few of these excellent timepieces, I realize that ownership of a Marcello C watch is a rare treat. There just aren't that many of them out there, and in the US you need to be actually looking for the watch to find it. Omega Aqua Terra 2502.50...saw a deal
Guys/Gals, Looking around the mall this past weekend and saw the above watch at a Bailey, Banks & Biddle. The sales lady (don't think she knew much about Omegas) said it was 40% off retail. She said it was a returned item and is not to be sold as "new" to explain the price. Here's the rub. It comes with no papers, no box, no links and no warranty card...nil, zip, nada, what you see is what you get. It look to be in excellent condition, no scratches, and the band fit me well. I said thank you and walked off (all the time mumbling to my wife...she knew the basic price, but agreed about not having "much" paper work). So, what would you do? I was planning on getting that watch (for dressier times) maybe next year.Later my friends

More finds
Well, I finished my search on the family's old guys watchesand I found two more watches, that I find some quite interesting, for what they are, and for what represent...First, a Bulova Accutron Spaceview, this watch is in pristine condition, looks really new, I just swapped the old stretchy bracelet for a leather band, but not even cleaned the watch, picture is as it was found...I need to find a spare battery, as this uses 1.35V, and I don't want to fry the coils , any advice?I will ask in the Accutron forum too...Second, a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date, this watch have a very sad history behind, as it was from my uncle, who died in a car accident, and the damage seen in the watch is part of the accident's consequencesThis need a total restoration, but incredibly, after 35 years in a drawer, I shaked it, and it started and is running well and keeping great time, however it needs a new crystal, new dial, and new braceletI will try to do my best to restore it.

What is your take on Day & Date?
Does anybody have one? If so, what the verdict so far? I like it for its 39mm size and balanced dial. How does this compare to the new 15400 in terms of fit and wear?

which nautilus chrono?
friends,i am again thinking of getting a nautilus chrono and essentially the choice comes down to 5980AR (the gold/steel nautilus) or the 5980R-001 (red gold case on croc leather). pics of both watches are attached. the AR has the beautiful blue dial but may be considered a bit retro for the bi-color case and bracelet while the R-001 model has a full gold case but it is overall rather similar to my 5712R....which one would you go for, as a nice piece to stay in my collection for possibly long without getting hit by a lot of depreciation?i should add that i have excluded the 5980/1R-001 (full gold case and bracelet) since i already have a 5711R.
