Waltham 1877 18s pocket watch - open face at 3?
So I just acquired a watch which will probably need a bit of work. It's a Waltham 18s 1877 model (I think!) but it's in an open-face Waltham coin silver case that has the crown at 3. I've been trying to figure out if the case was modified from a hunting case or if they made an open-face case with the crown at 3...As you can see, as is the watch is missing the end of the minute hand as well as one of the case screws for the movement on the back. I shall have to find some parts.. I used the NAWCC serial number database for Walthams to find out some more info like year mfd. (1883-84). The database says this S/N should have a hunting case.Any particular thoughts on this watch? Thanks!Andrew

Hello Omega Aficionados!I see a lot AT appreciation in this forum and I'm leaning very strongly towards the 38.5mm version. This watched belonged to my late stepfather and was bought brand new as you can see from the original receipt.I've had a little look around on Google and the watch code stands for / gents gold plated / leather strap / stainless back / electronic / non waterproof / calendar.Apart from this I know nothing regarding collectibility or value etc as I can't find the same model for sale anywhere. If it is of interest to Omega collectors I would rather it go to one of those rather than pass it to my son in the future only for him not to appreciate it.The watch is in near mint condition .. it is not currently working but it hasn't been worn for 18 years and so i'd guess this a battery issue.Any further info you can offer is appreciated greatly.

I contacted him numerous times asking if it was NOS or what ever and if he could post pics of the box and paperwork... no replies.
