Hi,Today my mom and dad showed up with two watches they found in my grandma's house (she just moved to a retirement home). They came to me first because they know I love watches and because I know more about watches than them (which is still almost nothing). The first one is an Omega Gen¨¦ve ladies watchand that's about as much as I can tell from just looking at it; no serial numbers whatsoever. I did wind it so it is a automatic watch (or a winding watch? I will get back on that with the second watch). If anyone can tell me anything about this watch it would be great!The second one is easier to identify. It is a Certina Automatic Blue Ribbon men's watch. There are some numbers on the back but I don't know which ones are serial numbers and whether or not it's safe to put them online (I've got no experience on this...). Well, I've been wanting to get a nice vintage watch for a while now. So far, two watches have really caught my eye. One is a Zodiac Seawolf (white dial) (Source)and the second is a HEUER AUTAVIA 1163 (Preferably "JO SIFFERT").(Pic taken from HEUER AUTAVIA 1163 VICEROY / SIFFERT / GULF)I know Tag Heuer has come out with a new Autavia, but I'd prefer the original Heuer over the newer one.While I don't have the cash for it at the moment and I'm currently saving up some cash for a potential Euro trip, sometime around July next year, I would love to be able to save up a bit more and buy one of the watch mentioned above.Any idea where can I expect to come across either a NOS or in a good condition?Also, what's the price that I can expect to pay, say 8-10 months down the line? I know its far off, but I have loads of things lined up and it'll take me sometime to save up for a nice watch.Appreciate all your help.-Dhruv
Just picked up the Grand Seiko - have a look:Steve did the polished sides of the case by hand so the edges would remain crisp - how's that for patience? This sucker looks almost new! (excuse the couple pieces of dust and reflections) I can't wait to get the right size strap on it and start wearing it. Oh, and it passed the 30 m water resistance test toopare it to the photo of the day I received it - see the scratches on the polished areas? He did quite a job.
I have a cuff style wooden watch by Cassandra Rose from a customer who wants the battery replaced. The back cap is taking damage from me trying to get the cap off. the wood is just too fragile. I cannot tell if it is glued on, screwed on or snapped on. Can anyone help me? I don't want to damage the watch but want to be able to change the battery for the customer. Thank you for any help.
