I spend a lot of time in the water with my 2254.50 and it's showing signs of condensation. There's some discoloration on the inside of the crystal along the edge near the crown.The watch is still under warranty and I'm wondering if this would fall under warranty service. If it does, I'll hand it over to Omega for servicing. If it doesn't, I'll hand it over to a local guy who gets rave reviews here in San Jose. Anyone know if this type of repair would fall under the warranty?
A friend is trying to sell me his 2001 Speedmaster, Michael Schumacher edition. He's asking $1800 for it. Is this a good price? Personally, I'm not a fan of the yellow face, but I'd buy it if it's a good price and might increase in value. Great condition, all original papers, packaging. Snagged one of the last series of dials produced by Elgin before it closed its doors and sold off its name in 1969. I've seen better, but still nice to have this sad part of Elgin history.
I just got my Grandmothers Cyma alarm back from a 3 month restoration.I had the movement restored, the case cleaned and polished, and the crystal replaced. I left the hands and dial (other than a slight cleaning) intact to keep a bit of the "history". Before.After with more detailed photos to come...So far it's keeping wonderful time and the alarm functions wonderfully. A little small for my wrist but I still intend to wear it.
So, I have finally ordered a BNIB black dial 15400 and expect to receive it early next week.I will admit to having been amazed by the wide range of prices/discounts/deals, including the kind offer of not a penny off from the AP boutique in Geneva. The recent actions of the Swiss National Bank spurred me into action, and I will report back on my chosen grey market dealer once the transaction is complete...In the meantime, I am very much looking forward to entering the rarified world of Audemars Piguet and haut horlogerie.Here's a brochure shot just for fun....
