Seiko SPC059 wrist watches news:
There's just something appealing about the stark aesthetic espoused by the Bauhaus design ethos, and NOMOS is just one of those brands that embodies it well, to my way of thinking. ?They've introduced several new models this year at Basel (see our writeup here on the new NOMOS 38 series), and I came across another one that surprised me a bit.Of course, being surprised by model introductions in Basel is par-for-the-course, at least some of the time. ?What surprised me the most about this new Ahoi model is that it's truly a dive watch (if in no other terms than it's 200 meter water resistance rating), while still hewing to that simple design that work so well in the office or with a suit.If you're familiar with the Tangomat lineup (our hands-on review is here), the new Ahoi will seem instantly familiar. The most noticeable change would be the inclusion of colors on the otherwise monochrome scheme, with blue luminous hands and a bright red seconds hand. ?You'll find additional lume in the
There's no doubt that automatic winding units revolutionized the wristwatch. Several inventions, subsequent improvements, and even specific movements have had a vast influence on the industry. Take a look at the Valjoux 7750 series as a recent example - to say it's ubiquitous is an understatement! Regardless of how many watches are powered by a 7750, it didn't make the list because it didn't break new ground. The top 5 are in chronological order.Harwood bumperpatented: 1924This winding system may not have been the most efficient, but it was the first. It spawned similar systems in dozens of brands like Omega, Movado, and JLC. Still used into the 60's (in the JLC Memovox for example), they finally disappeared in the 70's.Rolex Perpetualpatented: 1933The list of companies that were influenced by this would be too long to type! It was the first 360˚ rotor wristwatch caliber and spawned a new direction in the industry. Combined with Rolex's trademark water resistant Oyster cas
I don't remember a recent thread on watch thickness so how thick is too thick?Since I tend to wear 40-43mm watches, over 15 is where is starts to get to thick for me.With my vintages, all around 33-36mm, under 9mm seems to be the magic #.So let us know, how thick is too thick for a watch for you.

Last August, I purchased a black face ceramic Daytona from an AD after a year wait. Beautiful watch but to me could be better. I contacted Les Artisans de Geneve to customize it, with a 6263 hand made face, vintage polishing, and new vintage hands. The goal was to keep as much as modern as possible with a vintage flavor. I understand many of you may have your own views of customizing an already fine time piece. The result though to me is stunning and I wanted to share it with the community. Les Artisans... is a company to work with. Currently, the watch is not in my hands yet but here are some pictures of the completed piece on its way. Sent from my BBB100-3 using Tapatalk
