Female watch makers?The other day someone asked me about female watch creators or watch makers.I was somewhat out of my depth and had to admit that I know not even a hand-full of female watch creators.The most inspiring is Mrs. Saskia Maaike Bouvier from Geneva. To my knowledge she is the only female watch creator focusing not on design only but being an accomplished watch maker taking equal care of the mechanical side of her watches.This year Mrs. Bouvier shall show her watches at Baselworld at the booth of the AHCI, the acad¨¦mie horlog¨¨re des cr¨¦ateurs ind¨¦pendants (Academy of Horology of the Independent Watch Creators). She is currently a candidate to become a full-fledged member of the AHCI. The members of the AHCI are ones being at the avant-garde of horology and their booth is one of the few fixed points of abode I have at Baselworld.I am particularly curious to take a closer look at Mrs. BouvierˇŻs latest creation The Eight Moon or in French huit lunes.
If I were to purchase an Omega, which movement should I be looking for and which models would have it? I'm particually interested in the Seamaster series.
Think Rolex should have two new models of the Explorer 1:- 39mm with 3230 (chronergy escapement, etc based on 3235)- 36mm with 2232 (syloxi hairspring, etc based on 2236)And I would definitely go for the 36mm (and probably give my trusty 114270 a well deserved vacation)... maybe in Basel 2020?
