Zenith 03-0526-4000-01-R642 wrist watches news:
Born when Ross Perot was warning about a giant sucking sound and Bill Clinton was apologizing for causing pain in his marriage, members of this fall¡¯s entering college class of 2014 have never written in cursive or worn a wristwatch. In their world, e-mail is way too slow, and Russians and Americans have always been living together in space. Each August since 1998, Beloit College has released the Beloit College Mindset List. It provides a look at the cultural touchstones that shape the lives of students entering college this fall. Created by two Benoit professors, the survey was originally intended as a reminder to faculty to avoid dated cultural references, but over the years it has grown to become a catalog of the rapidly changing worldview of each new generation. This year’s survey reveals that few in the entering class know how to write in cursive, and they rarely if ever use snail mail. Hey guys !I just finished up with this Elgin about an hour ago so I thought that I'd share my results !I have seen plenty of the larger size 6s trench watches in my day but I haven't ever seen one quite like this.IT'S 14k YELLOW GOLD FILLED ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! Finding one in 14k YGF is EXTREMELY difficult, most are nickel or silverode. The B&B "Royal" case has nice and thick lugs that are 18mm in diameter, most cases with this design are only 16mm.I just took the movement apart for a good cleaning and timing adjustment, it's rock'n and roll'n now!Just installed a new inner sleeve on the on the stem and a brand new glass crystal too boot!I used a VERY NICE 18mm genuine Buffalo open ended band with a matching gold tone buckle.I think the band looks awesome with the 14k YGF trench case! The dial on this Elgin is just out of this world ! ! ! ! !VERY NICE enamel dial with ornate script Arabic numerals, not a hairline, chip or crack ! ! !AND ! ! ! The dial has a "MADE IN U.S.A." stamp
Just picked up this sweet little 1928 Elgin on the Swamp:I thought I had seen it before but didn't know where. Then I remembered it reminded me of an Elgin "William Osler" model I had seen on Bryan's site. So I bid on it and won.Has a two-tone 14k gold-filled Wadsworth case:Bezel is 14K ygf while back is 14K wgf:Has a nifty 17 jewel, 483 grade, 18/0s size, movement that dates to 1928 according the serial number in the Elgin database. It also says this was Elgin's first 18/0s size movement:Also has what looks to be an original dial with nice embossed numerals (check out that stylized "7"!):I e-mailed some photos to Bryan and asked if this was an Elgin in the "William Osler" line. He said he thought it was from the "Clubman" model line. He said he had one and was going to put it up for sale on his web-site soon. When he does, I'm sure it will contain his usual weatlh of knowledge. If anyone has any other info., or photos, let me know.thanksMark S.
This morning I was doing my usual cruiser through the new Elgin listings on The Swamp, when I saw one that made me scratch my head.230704738052Those of you who have watched my collection grow over the last year or so may think it looks kinda familiar. It is. The case is a dead ringer for this one:That's a Bulova 'Senator', a model they sold from 1940 till 1949. It came with at least 4 different dials, in yellow and rose RGP and yellow 14k solid. It carried a variety of movements, both US and Swiss made. But never an Elgin movement!I note that the caseback is cut to fit one of Elgin's 18/0 movements - those funky little rectangular jobs that preceded the 15/0s. The serial number on the movement dates it to 1929, 11 years before the introduction of the 'Senator'.Here's what I think happened. I think it was actually originally a Bulova, and somewhere along the line, somebody did a Cross-brand Franken. They milled out the back from one that carried a smaller Bulova movement, adapted o
I know the AP service can set you back by 3K at times from what i've read on here (don't personally own one - yet), however I am curious if servicing an AP costs pretty much the same as servicing a PP.The 15202 vs the 5711 for example. Also, how about the duration. I know PP can take up to 5 months sometimes, is this also the case with AP?Finally. Has anyone ever had a full bezel replacement on his AP? Curious how much that would set you back. Thanks for the info guys.
