Audemars Piguet began in 1875 when Jules Audemars, then 23, and Edward-August Piguet, 21, met in the Valle de Jous looking for jobs in the local watchmaking industry. The summit of the evolution of the Primero movement before production was shut down in 1975 was the Primero cal. 3019 PHF, which added a day, month and moonphase to the base automatic chronograph with date. It followed quickly on the heels of the base cal. 3019 PHC, introduced January 10, 1969, and was presented in the Espada, a very 1970's slab-cased watch. This is probably the later of two versions, produced 1973-75 in 500 exemplars, and darned-near mint (yes, I know, overused, but I think it applies here) condition. It goes into regular service today!PS. Regarding the complexity of the mechanism of the additional complications, Jesse (omega564) likes to quip "Whoever designed that was being paid by the part." I'd love to hear a little more detail about that, e.g. fussier than other similar mechanisms?...
I did just that the other day. I went in an AD to look at and possibly buy a Rolex Yachtmaster and instead brought an Omega Planet Ocean Titanium on the Rubber Strap. Just trying on this lovely watch was enough to make me change my mind. Omega has truely excelled themselves with this beautiful watch. Every minute detail is perfect and has the best dial and Bezel I have seen on any Omega.
