This Halloween I'd like to present you with two creepy watches from Angular Momentum. Creepy yes, but in a more subtle "Swiss way." The one that creeps me out most is the "Little Devil" watch - with images of a maniacal looking infant laughing over hell fire. But let's get back to the "phenakistoscope" part of the name. The hell is that you ask? Well this was part of early animation. You'd take some type of cylinder or ring, and place images on it that if seen in a quickly moving sequence, would appear to the eye to move. Please be aware that unless this watch is operating terribly wrong, the disc with the sequential images will not move fast enough for you to see the animation. Rather, it is a wrist watch style homage of these early forms of animated entertainment.The disk moves around the dial once each 12 hours - slowest animation ever! I'm hopefully off to Jo'burg with Mrs Van D on Wednesday night just for a couple of days. I've been in correspondence with the Panerai boutique making a stock enquiry. The price of the 533 isn't very competitive (unfortunately), which is most likely down to the weak GB¡ê. I can do a lot better here in the UK and I'm (here's that word again - hopefully) home for Christmas. My man in Singapore will also do better but, that said, I haven't asked about discounts because I'm not sure that's the done thing in email. I didn't ask about the 372 but I think that's most likely my next acquisition anyway.Whilst the numbers might not work, the chaps that have replied to my emails seem like pretty decent guys so I'll try to get over to the boutique anyway to say hello and have a mooch. Had my sub pressure tested and the results show test 1 as being rejected and test 2 as being OK. The guy who tested it said not to worry about the rejected test and that it was ok because it passed test 2. Could anyone provide some insight on this and the results?
