Hi, I am new to WTF. I signed up hoping to get a little advice from some people who know much more than I. I am a 23 year-old recent college grad who would like to buy a nice watch. I don't have a huge budget, but I would like to buy the best possible watch I can afford. I would like to spend less than $1000, but lets set a $1200 cap. I have been looking for months, mostly at TAGs, Omegas, and Movados, but I'm very indecisve and I don't want to make the wrong purchase.Anyway, here are my preferences:-Swiss (though I am open to other suggestions-Big: I woud like at least 42mm, but I don't want a ridiculously large watch.-Stainless steelI am looking for a quality, versatile watch that will last me many years. I would like a watch that catches the eye, but is not gaudy. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions that you might have. Thank you very much in advance.
Was wondering if I could get some input from the members. Last week I dropped my RO15300 off at the AD for a service. It's been about 7 years since the watch was last seen by AP. The watch was keeping good time but the power reserve was down to 6-10 hours, hence the service. Once I noticed the power reserve issue, the watch went straight into the safe and didn't see a wrist again. Watch has never seen water or been dropped. Was worn in rotation pretty evenly with 5 other watches. When I dropped the watch off at the AD they said that the service would run approximately $1300 CAD ($1000 USD). Sounded about right to me. Yesterday, the AD called me back and said that they had received an estimate from the APSC in Canada at $4000 CAD ($3100 USD)!!! I was told that the watch required a CTR - Complete Technical Revision. I had never heard the term before and can't even find too much about it online. I have submitted a contact request on the AP website but while I wait for a response, I though

2 issues here : swirl marks/micro scratches under the glass on the dial + dust/dirt speck stuck to the rehautI've read other threads, after initially thinking it was on the crystal, I'm now thinking it's actually on the dial. The other threads I've read also stated this was the case. Tons of tiny swirl marks (like you'd see on a brand new car) or fine polish marks/scratches are all over the dial. Every time I'm in the sun I see scratch marks.I noticed before but thought the glass was just dirty.
