I am having serious doubts about the Royal Mail in the UK. Sense Thanksgiving they have lost two watches and nobody seems to know where they are right now even though they were sent the MOST secure way possible, USPS Registered Mail w/ signature required and Royal Mail small packets w/ signature required. I have launched investigations into both of these packages but I have lost all hope that they will ever turn up. Service between the USA and UK takes on average 14 days. I sent one package to London 58 days ago and one package was sent to me from London 37 days ago. Here is my problem, you can only insure USPS Registered Mail International for about $46.00 and that is the maximum even though it is the most secure way to send a package. I got my money back on the Waltham but I am going to take a MAJOR hit on the Elgin which I cannot afford at this point, I am a very small one man operation just getting started. I received a call from my AD last week to say my 5711/1A was available to collect. I’ve only been on the waiting list for 6 months although I’ve bought from them before. I collected the watch today I’m pleased with the look of the watch. It really looks smart with a long sleeved shirt or worn with a suit. The dial isn’t actually white although it photographs white. It’s more of a silvery, metallic off-white.I passed up the opportunity to buy one of these 2 years ago. Now they’re ¡ê6500 more expensive. Hindsight eh?My only quibble is the clasp. I think it could have been more elegant. I understand that Patek wanted an invisible mechanism to integrate seamlessly with the bracelet but I much prefer the clasp on my Aquanauts. I was winding my 372, as I do each AM, when suddenly I could feel the crown rotating really fast in the opposite direction (against the winding direction)...I flipped the watch over and could see the balance wheel spinning like crazy and then it slowed, and finally stopped. Now when I wind the watch nothing happens...I turn the crown and then then it just turns itself back and the watch won't stop...
