We were super excited about the Anstead Oceanis kickstarter that happened a few months ago. I've heard for years that Rolex has its own foundry, and makes its own 904L stainless steel. However, I was reading an article on Deployant, written in 2016, and they said the following:Although Rolex is one of the few watch companies to own and operate their own metal foundries, the in-house foundry is used to make precious metals like their proprietary Everose gold. Steel, especially the 904L used by Rolex exclusively in all their stainless steel products is so specialized that it is made by from a supplier.
